What is artwork re-stretching?
Typically, if you have an artwork on canvas which is rolled up and you want to display it for exhibition or in your home, even for storage, stretching is the best option. Having your artwork stretched on quality stretcher bars will protect your artwork in the long-term from becoming cockled or misshaped and even prevent your canvas from shrinking. Stretching up an artwork is often the first step towards getting a piece framed.
My history in stretching
In 2012 I took a job with John Jones, the then well know fine art framers in Finsbury Park. I was offered a position in their Artists Surfaces department where I was tasked mainly with
re-stretching artworks. Around 2017 I became freelance, re-stretching artworks on canvas for framers, artists, galleries, private collectors and students.
To date that’s over 10 years of professional art work re-stretching experience plus another 10+ years since I graduated in Fine Art.
