Here’s how the process works:
- We have a discussion over email or a quick call, so that I can understand more about your ideas and you can learn more about the process and costs
- If you’d like to go ahead, I’ll visit to take some photographs (or we can choose some that you already have)
- I paint the portrait and deliver it safely to you
- Hopefully, you’re delighted with the result!
A guide to pricing
Prices range from £300 for a small portrait (5×7″) to £1200 for a large piece (36×24″). This is a guide and also depends on complexity of the project.
Here are some recent examples of my work:
Tim
Tim is a gardener at St Mary’s Church in Walthamstow. It’s a really great place to visit if you get the chance; the gardens are full of wildness and beauty.
I visited Tim at the church and took loads of photos in the bright afternoon sunshine. I picked one that really brought out his vibe (as well as his work), and put the portrait together over the next few weeks. It was interesting to paint someone well known in the local area – and Tim’s delighted with the piece. He says:
“Love it! You got me there.”
Trudi
I’ve yet to catch Trudi standing next to her painting. She has said –
It’s a good likeness.
Trudi’s part of a group called ‘defend out juries’. Trudi held a sign which read ‘Jurors have an absolute right to acquit a defendant according to their conscience’ and it’s really stirred things up in the high court.

Ben and Iris
I was asked to paint a picture of Ben to match a portrait of his sister. I already had a canvas and a frame ready to go then Iris came along.
I’m painting all of my work from photographs and this one came in via text.
A portrait of Milla
I managed to get a good shot of Milla as she was harvesting some homegrown food in our garden. All of the objects she was carrying were somehow significant and her favourite rainbow jumper.
